1902 Opened Dinner-First on Broadway. Downtown Prosper's Daytime Belongs to the Town Calendar.

October 22, 2026

1902 Restaurant opened at 209 W. Broadway St. on Tuesday, Oct. 6. It's a smaller opening than the one announced in early 2025. Community Impact reported that the first-floor dining room and bar are serving, with a menu of steaks, pasta and seafood. The rooftop seating, brunch, lunch and Mary Ann's Speakeasy on the second floor will open later, and no date has been given for any of them.

The restaurant's website lists hours of Tuesday through Sunday, 3 to 10 p.m. So downtown Prosper's newest restaurant opens in the late afternoon. Between now and mid-December, the Town has scheduled several Saturday events within a few blocks of 1902's door. Most start before 3 p.m.

The Long Road From Sip and See to Opening Night

1902 has been on the downtown calendar for a long time.

Early 2026 Opening date listed as first quarter 2026 The Dallas Morning News
Sept. 28, 2026 Oct. 6 opening announced, first-floor dinner service only Community Impact

The building helps explain the wait. Local Profile identified the space as the former Prosper Wine House, across the street from The Gin. The renovation plans it described included a new kitchen, reworked interior seating and an elevator, which a multi-level restaurant needs if guests are going to reach the roof and the second floor. Local Profile also reported that the name honors 1902, the year Prosper was founded.

Alora Hospitality Group is behind the project, with co-owner Jason Young leading it. Chef Amy DiBiase runs the kitchen. According to Local Profile, she is French-trained, graduated from Johnson & Wales University, and most recently led culinary operations at the Sanderling Resort in North Carolina.

What's Open Now, and What's Still Upstairs

Opening in phases means 1902 started with dinner. Here is what's available now, based on the restaurant's site and Community Impact's coverage:

  • Open: the first-floor dining room and bar, Tuesday through Sunday, 3 to 10 p.m.
  • Coming later, no date announced: rooftop seating, brunch, lunch, and Mary Ann's Speakeasy on the second floor.

The upstairs pieces are what set 1902 apart from the rest of the downtown lineup. Young described the dining room to The Dallas Morning News as having an equestrian theme: leather-strapped chandeliers, hunter green walls and a black granite bar top. He also told the paper, "The sunset from the roof is world-class." The speakeasy is named for Young's grandmother, Mary Ann, who in his words had "the vibe of an Old West barkeep."

Local Profile described Mary Ann's as an intimate, Prohibition-era-inspired lounge with craft cocktails and rotating entertainment. Until it opens, a visit to 1902 means a first-floor dinner. The rooftop sunset will have to wait for a later phase.

One note on the menu. Community Impact's September preview described a menu of steaks and Tex-Mex fusion that was still being finalized. Its opening-day story was later edited to say steaks, pasta and seafood. The restaurant's online menu page still says "Coming Soon!" Expect the dinner menu to keep changing as the kitchen settles in.

Broadway's Daytime Already Had Owners

1902 is joining a block that already serves people earlier in the day. The Gin sits directly across the street at 204 W. Broadway St. Its menu starts with breakfast and runs through Southern comfort food, burgers, wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas and a Texas Wagyu chicken-fried steak. Its site also promotes live music.

Tavern on Broadway is a neighborhood sports-watching spot at 350 W. Broadway St., Ste. 60. Its site lists hours of 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Friday and until 1 a.m. on Saturday.

So 1902 fills a specific gap on Broadway. A sit-down dinner of steaks and pasta in a restored historic building is an evening option the other two don't offer. The daytime crowd still goes to the neighbors and to whatever the Town has on the plaza that weekend.

The Saturday Calendar Lines Up With the 3 P.M. Opening

Between now and mid-December, the Town's calendar puts several free events downtown. The timing of each one relative to 1902's 3 p.m. opening is part of why this fall's Broadway works on a schedule.

Date Event Where Hours
Sat., Nov. 14 Holiday on Strings Puppet Show Community Library, 200 S. Main St. Listed on the Town calendar
Sat., Nov. 21 Prosper on the Plaza: Friendsgiving! Downtown Prosper Plaza, Broadway St. Noon to 4 p.m.
Sat., Dec. 5 Prosper Christmas Festival Prosper Town Hall, 250 W. First St. 3 to 7 p.m.
Sat., Dec. 12 Holiday Concert with Opera Underground Community Library, 200 S. Main St. 11 a.m. to noon

Friendsgiving on the Plaza is the biggest daytime event on Broadway itself. The Town's listing promises live bluegrass, a giant corn maze, a petting zoo, face painting, lawn games and food trucks. Admission is free, but the listing asks guests to reserve a seat in advance. SPG Hospitality produces the event in partnership with the Town. It runs from noon to 4 p.m., so its last hour overlaps with 1902's first.

The Prosper Christmas Festival on Dec. 5 lines up even more closely. The Town lists it as a free event at Town Hall from 3 to 7 p.m., with holiday-themed attractions and entertainment for all ages. That start time is the same hour 1902 opens a block away on Broadway.

The two library events on Main St. take place in the morning or early afternoon. They're well suited to families with young kids, and they finish hours before the dinner service starts. The calendar also lists a Recycled Creations Art Exhibit at the library on Thursday, Nov. 12.

One November event takes place outside downtown. The Prosper Veterans Day Honor Run, with a 10K, a 5K and a Fun Run, is on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 8 to 11 a.m. at Frontier Park, 1551 Frontier Pkwy.

The Next Downtown Pieces

The biggest downtown piece still to come is 1902's upstairs, which includes the rooftop, Mary Ann's Speakeasy, and the brunch and lunch service that would bring the restaurant into the daytime hours. On the east side of Broadway is Parvin Park at 401 E. Broadway St. In January 2026, the Town Council approved a $532,145 contract with Homerun Construction LLC to add a small playground and picnic tables next to the existing pond and green space. At that point, completion was forecast for summer 2026, as Community Impact reported. The Town's Parvin Park project page is the place to check its current status before planning a picnic there.

The restaurant at 209 W. Broadway St. takes its name from the year Prosper was founded, and its upstairs floors are the last piece of the opening still waiting on a date.
